About Adult Ed
California Adult Education is celebrating 152 years of service to adults this year. The San Francisco Board of Education sponsored the first Adult Ed classes in the basement of St. Mary’s Cathedral in 1856. Several years later the adult school became a permanent part of the local school district, and the decision was made to offer tuition-free classes. Both of those traditions remain in effect today.

Anaheim Adult Education also has a long history, having been established in 1937, 71 years ago. We currently have ten programs operating under the auspices of Adult Education in the Anaheim Union High School District. A brief description of each of these programs is located on the Programs page under Academics.
